Q. Does it cost anything to post an internship?
A. No. It is free to post internships, externships, co-ops, and apprentice programs into the database. Free postings allow students to see your company and review the detail about your particular program. Premium students may view your contact information and contact you directly.

Free postings provide visibility of your company and available opportunities to students and teachers seeking programs in the local area. The free posting does not include access to the JerseyIntern resume database.

Q. How long does my internship posting last in the database?
A. Employers can state a specific start and end date or choose a rolling internship. Rolling internships do not have a start and end date. They have general time descriptions such as: Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winterbreak.

Q. How many programs can I post?
A. Employers may post as many programs as needed. There is no limit to the number of postings. All general internship postings into the database for student review are free.

Q. Are there any fees to access resumes?
A. JerseyIntern offers several cost effective opportunities for employers.

a. NEW: PURCHASE PER RESUME. Access only what you need at $9.95 per resume.

b. Access resumes attached to your internships. Only $99(Annual fee for unlimited attachments).

c. Access the entire database. Staff all of your departments throughout the year with the most up-to-date resumes. Subscriptions include $199 for three month access and $350 for annual access.

Q. Do you ONLY work with New Jersey students, colleges, and employers?
A. JerseyIntern places internship programs for students throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Washington D.C.

Q. How are you different from Craigslist, MonsterTrak and Careerbuilder?
A. JerseyIntern is the first website dedicated to only internships, externships, co-ops, and apprenticeships at a local level. We do post some jobs, however they are NOT mixed in with internship listings. They are strictly separate so students can find local internships matching their college requirements.

Employers can find students or recent graduates for internship opportunities or full time positions. Resumes are efficientlyl organized for employers by department, candidate, and date.

Q. Why do I need the resume database?
A. The resume database gives you control to find and contact candidates IMMEDIATELY. You do not have to wait for students to search and find your particular program. You can review the database of students for all of your departments throughout the year. The database provides the most up-to-date resumes of local students seeking career opportunities.

Q. Is there a fee if I choose an intern or if I hire an intern for a full time job?
A. No. There are no additional fees for choosing a candidate for an internship or employment.

Q. Is there a discount for non-profits?
A. Yes. JerseyIntern provides a 10% discount for any non-profit organization interested in accessing any of the services from the website.

Q. Do you offer any services that can increase the number of hits to my program?
A. Yes. JerseyIntern offers a MULTIPLE SCHOOL PROMOTION that increases the visibility of your program directly on college campuses. We provide your internship information to local colleges, career centers, teachers, and advisors. JerseyIntern offers a three school promotion and a five school promotion local to your area. We also offer a recommendation list for your convenience.

Q. Do I have to pay my interns?
A. According to the New Jersey Department of Taxation, Employers are not required to pay students interning for their company for college credit. The following link provides the criteria outlined for New Jersey.

Q. Will my contact information be visible to the general public?
A. No. Only premium students have availability to see contact detail. Anyone randomly searching will not be able to see your contact information.

Q. If a student comes to my company for credit, what do I have to do?
A. A. Students may ask you, "Does your program require college credit?" This is entirely up to you. Some companies require that the student is in college and they are going for credit. However, JerseyIntern works with many companies that do not require college credit. Again this is up to you.

B. A student may come to you and say,"I need this for credit"? If so, they will need to provide the necessary documentation to you. Students can get this paperwork from their academic advisor or career center. Every school is different, however you can expect to fill out your company information, student hours and supervisor information. Signatures of the supervisor, student and academic advisor usually appear at the bottome of the document. It is then up to the student to submit the proper paperwork the their school. Companies are advised to maintain a copy of the paperwork for their records.

Q. Does it cost anything to apply to an internship?
A. A. No. It is free to sign up with JerseyIntern and to post your resume to any of the programs on the site.

Q. Who can see my resume?
A. A. Any of the employers that you have attached your resume to can always see it. However, those that have upgraded to the Premium account can also see your resume and contact you as well. Other students cannot see your resume.

Q. How do I know if an internship position has been filled or whether it is still open?
A. A. Even though employers do not always contact us when they close an internship posting, students can use the Premium service to contact them directly and see whether there are still positions open.

Q. What does upgrading my account allow me to do?
A. A. For a single fee of $9.95, upgrading to the Premium student account allows you to have access to all of the contact information of the employers including: e-mail, address, and phone number. It also gives students access to the student intern kit.

Q. If I update my resume, does it automatically update the resumes I've already attached to employers or do I need to reattach it?
A. A. When you update your resume, it is saved in the system with the changes and automatically updates the resume that the employer sees.

Q. Do you offer any services that can help me with resume writing or interviewing?
A. A. Yes. With the Premium account upgrade, JerseyIntern offers the student intern kit which provides tips on how to develop a resume, update a current one, as well as how to successfully interview.

Q. How many programs can I apply to?
A. A. You can apply to as many programs as you would like. There is no limit on the amount that you are allowed to apply to.

Q. What does attaching my resume acutally do?
A. A. When you click the "attach resume" button, it is immediately sent into the employer's account page where they have the availability to open it at any time. However, it is up to the employer when they want to review a resume. If you need an immediate response it is best to call them directly.

Q. Can I attach a cover letter?
A. A. USAintern.com is working on allowing students to attach cover letters specified towards particular positions. However, this option is not available yet.

Q. Can I use USAintern.com after I graduate?
A. A. Yes. You have access to USAintern.com even after you graduate. Companies that do not require college credit often hire graduates as they transition from school to work.

Q. How can I stand out from other applicants?
A. A. When you apply to a position, there are many other students applying as well; an unlimited amount of students can apply to particular positions. However, by upgrading to the Premium account, students have access to employer's phone numbers. By calling them directly you can stand out from other applicants.

Q. Can I tailor my resume to cater to different companies?
A. A. No. Your resume is a general resume saved in the system for all employers to see. However, USAintern is working to give students the option of attaching a cover letter.
